Located on a 35-hectare seafront site, the Singapore Sports Hub is a multifunctional complex that integrates sports, leisure, commerce, and culture. Designed by DP Architects and inaugurated in 2014, the project is part of the “Sports Singapore Vision 2030” strategy, promoting sports participation and urban quality.
The National Stadium, with a capacity of 55,000 spectators, features the world’s largest free-spanning dome (310 meters), a retractable roof, and a passive cooling system that reduces energy consumption by 60%. The structure also includes the OCBC Aquatic Centre, OCBC Arena, and the Singapore Indoor Stadium, as well as commercial areas, community spaces, and an elevated sports promenade.
The masterplan prioritizes urban integration, accessibility, and sustainability, incorporating tropical landscaping and efficient drainage and cooling systems. The complex is directly connected to the public transportation network and the waterfront park, establishing itself as a benchmark in sports infrastructure and public space in Singapore.
