Located on the northwest coast of England, in Morecambe, the new Eden Centre is a £100 million proposal developed by Grimshaw, which seeks to expand the success of the Eden Project in Devon. Situated in a former entertainment center, the project aims to create an innovative ecotourism attraction, combining landscape and technological elements.
Inspired by Buckminster Fuller's geodesic concept, which also marked the original project in a disused quarry in southwest England, the new center promises to reinvent the 21st-century seaside resort, according to Simon Bellamy, head of Eden Project International.
Since 2001, the Eden Project's geodesic has been replicated in other parts of the world, including a version in Qingdao, China, and the Mars Science City, planned by BIG in the United Arab Emirates.
