CAPITAL INTERNATIONAL EXHIBITION & CONVENTION CENTER (CIECC)
ZAHA HADID ARCHITECTS
The Capital International Exhibition & Convention Center (CIECC), designed by Zaha Hadid Architects, is Beijing's largest and most advanced exhibition and convention center. Located in Shunyi district, the complex was conceived with a fluid and modular design, optimizing circulation and space functionality.
Its central axis organizes the nine exhibition pavilions, ensuring clarity in navigation and flexibility for different types of events. Elevated walkways interconnect the buildings, providing internal connection between exhibition spaces, the conference center, and the hotel.
The building's structure stands out for its modular roofing system, composed of symmetrical geometries that create a light, column-free environment, allowing rapid adaptation to different exhibition needs. The facade, with copper-toned cladding and large embedded windows, balances the complex's industrial scale with sophisticated design.
Beyond architectural innovation, the CIECC adopts sustainable practices and includes an intelligent building management system with hybrid ventilation, rainwater collection, greywater reuse, and photovoltaic panels for energy generation, reducing demand on urban resources.
